ARTISTS STATEMENT: The glorified food/souvenir court of Quincy Market in Boston is a popular attraction for both tourists and locals alike. The center "court" houses about 30 ethinic fast-food shops and, on the weekend, is an ideal location for "people watching". However, I wanted to show the other side of the market. For all the thousands of tourists that enjoy the variety of culinary choices and social atmosphere of Quincy Market, there are those few who are are working hard, behind the scenes, to provide. These individuals are easily overlooked as one passes by... mesmerized by the edible goods that are carefully placed in and on counters to attract the attention of the masses. But to do so, is to miss the opportunity to witness, in many cases, the skill attributed to the making of what one has come to Quincy market to enjoy. The Pizza Maker tossing dough, the Bread Maker baking with long hooked rods, etc.
